Strengthen natural defenses, key to the health of your animals

Diseases lurk and aging is unstoppable for our dogs and cats too, but it is always possible to help them preserve their health and have vitality. It's not complicated, you just have to help the army they have (like you) in their body: the immune system.

What are defenses?
The immune system is made up of a wide variety of cells, molecules and microbes that share a mission: to maintain the balance of the body, that is, to preserve health. In a generic way we speak of “the defenses” of the body, but each member of this army has a specific mission, some identify toxic substances, others eliminate microbes and other harmful elements, etc. Its channels of action are the blood and the lymphatic system.

An inadequate diet, excessive medication, negative emotions such as stress, fear or anxiety are some of the factors that negatively influence the state of the immune system. Special attention must be paid to digestion and the intestinal microbiota, since 70% of the immune system cells are housed in the digestive system.

How to strengthen the immune system of our dogs and cats?
If we enhance the immune system of our dogs and cats, we will allow them to defend themselves naturally and on their own against many ailments and they will also be able to enjoy a better quality of life in case of chronic diseases. In addition, we will help them age with more vitality. How to do it?

Our basic recommendations are:

  • Supplements based on medicinal plants and mushrooms that stimulate the function of the immune system. Surely you know many of these natural remedies based on: echinacea, propolis, reishi, astragalus, siberian ginseng (eleutherococcus), it, turmeric o licorice
  • Prebiotics and probiotics to improve the intestinal microbiota.
  • Natural diet. We advise the BARF diet raw or lightly cooked, and as a second option, wet food made with organic ingredients. If you want a natural nutrition consultation provided by a veterinarian, you can book it here.
  • Emotional balance. If your dog or cat is behaving unusual or has suffered a trauma, you can help them with natural therapies such as Bach flowers, aromatherapy and/or consulting a ethologist
  • in autumn and winter, especially when drastic drops in temperature occur that affect the immune system, it is very important keep your dog warm when going outside and dry him well if he comes back wet for the rain Also pay attention to your bed, have a blanket and do not place it in a draft.

Integrative veterinary medicine and immune system
Like all the integrative veterinarians we have had contact with so far, phytotherapy experts and authors of “Herbs for pets”, Gregory L. Tilford and Mary L. Wulff, affirm that the excessive use of antibiotics, steroids and vaccines affects the natural functioning of the immune system. In our opinion, each case is unique and it is the veterinarian who must choose the most suitable tools to preserve and improve the health of an animal.
For our part, when it comes to boosting the immune system, we logically focus on a holistic approach based on a natural diet and suitable supplementation, as well as paying attention to the emotional state of the animal. And, of course, the importance of prevention.
If when the cold weather arrives or with the change of season many of you take an echinacea or reishi supplement to “raise your defenses”, why not do it with your dog or cat too?

In our immune system and restorative sections for Dogs o cats, you have various options to stimulate the defenses of your furry ones.

Remember Our products have a recommended dosage and they have different formats: pills, powder or liquid extracts, so it will be very easy for you to administer them in food, drink or directly into the mouth, depending on each case.

To achieve greater effectiveness, especially in serious pathologies, we advise you to consult with an integrative veterinarian, that is, one who has knowledge of phytotherapy and natural nutrition, since they can prescribe a specific dose for your dog or cat. If you don't know one, perhaps we can help you by putting you in touch with one. Write to us: informacion@herbolariosoldeinvierno.es
