Phytotherapy: green wisdom

La Phytotherapy studies the use of products of plant origin, mainly so-called medicinal plants, with a therapeutic purpose. Medicinal plants contain chemical compounds called active ingredients that are beneficial when used in various formats: infusions, liquid extracts, tablets, ointments, etc.

The objective of phytotherapy is to both prevent and cure, or at least alleviate, ailments. Although it is an ancient science and there are actually various phytotherapies (Chinese, Indian medicine...), it is constantly evolving, since properties of plants and fruits, as well as new species of plants, continue to be discovered.

Of course, not only human animals benefit from phytotherapy, but also other animals. In fact, when they live in freedom, they themselves look for plants in their environment that can heal them. This is what is called zoopharmacognosis. To allow this choice, applied zoopharmacognosis has been developed, the precursor of which is Caroline Ingraham. In our country, fortunately, we already have a few experts in this natural therapy, such as Jeannette Kok, who trained with Ingraham and has created Aromatics for Animals With Jeannette we have had the pleasure of collaborating on some courses on the subject that she has taught in Herbalist for Animals Winter Sun.
